Curves visit

I forgot to post last night that Jaimee and I managed to get to Curves yesterday. We are enjoying it and although some days I am dog tired and could do without it, Jaimee is saying, "Aw mom" so we go! It's a good thing I have her!

No gym today

Well Jaimee had sore arms from her grade 9 immunizations and I had a late meeting so we didn't make it to the gym. I did manage to fit in a run. I only did about 5K rather than my 6K but it felt good as my knee is not bothering me as much lately.

Steps, steps, steps

I went for a run today and it felt good. It was a beautiful day, the knee didn't hurt, I did my long run... all was well! Funny thing I wear my pedometer all the time and today I did my run and have also run around doing a bunch of errands and I am only at 8200 steps. On a normal work day I am averaging between 7500 and 8500 steps and that is without doing any running or anything!

Another Curves workout

It was a pro-day today so I was in a workshop all day. Jaimee phoned me part way through it and wondered if we were going to Curves. How sweet. We went and it was fun!

Wow, so exhausted!

There is so much going on right now. Of course work is busy, but I have had a few after school meetings and mine and Danica's Open Houses two nights this week. Sure making it hard to get out and run. Hopefully all of the main busyness is over for the most part and I can return to 'normal'.

First Curves visit

Well Jaimee and I did our first Curves workout today. I took it easy as the ole knee was telling me to. Jaimee seemed to like it. It will be a good thing for her and I to do together. Looking forward to more.

An Audience

I normally do my run first thing in the morning (well after I've had a tea and blogged for about 1 hour!). Today I was 'lazy' and didn't feel like going right away. I scrapbooked for a bit and then I decided I better go or I just may not. Well, I forgot about the Toy Run today so for part of my run I had an audience! I ran right up the street where onlookers were waiting for the Toy Run parade. Yah, I felt a little dumb, but at least it was only for a short part of my run!

Trying to get a routine!

Still trying to get into a routine with back to work full time and fitting in my exercising. Lately I have had so many appointments and meetings that I have not been able to run. Today I did a short run after work (before I left for home). I am hoping to do that 2 times per week and then my long runs on the weekends.

I ran

Well I did another run today. I didn't go quite as far as I usually do, I was a bit achey. I don't know about being over 40, seems I always have something to complain about. Now when it is that TOM (if you know what I mean), I am very achey everywhere. Today my lower back was kind of aching so I shortened my run by about 10 minutes. Oh well, 30 minutes is still good!

Run, run as fast as you can

Well not really, but I ran to my mom's this morning and did it in 5 minutes less than I took before. It felt good too.

Along with my weight loss this summer (total was 18 pounds!) I also did my measurements when I started on this track. In 2 months I have lost a total of 11 inches! This is all totalled - ie. 2 from hips, 2 from waist etc. Looks like I am still on the right track.

Did manage to run

I did manage to squeeze in a run yesterday. The power went out here, and included 3 other cities! We were without power for about 4 hours. I couldn't do the work I wanted at school or at home so since the sun was out I went for a run! Tonight will be lots of walking as it is our Fall Fair night.

Not much new

Not much new today. I did my run, my knee is great (it still lets me know it is there sometimes), I finished in about the same time (actually 1 minuted faster) and I feel good. I won't be running for a couple of days. I start work tomorrow (teaching grade 1s again) and it is going to be a long day (only 2 hours of school but we have a staff meeting). The next day after work I will be heading to sign up Jaimee (my oldest) and I up for Curves. I am kind of excited. I used to go to Curves and I am looking forward to going with Jaimee, I hope she likes it and sticks with it. She is 14 and is not joining many sports anymore (she used to do gymnastics, bowling, ball and track) - only track (May and June). I am trying to keep her moving and realize fitness is part of life. Perhaps once in awhile we will sneak off to Starbucks after!

Hoping to get into a nice routine of running after work a couple days a week and then on weekends and Curves 2X a week with Jaimee.

Rain, rain go away

Today I ran in the rain. When I started out it was a drizzle but before long I was in rain! Now I did think about just doing a short run but you know, my knee was feeling good, the run was feeling good so I kept going. I ran my route and I did it well! And, if in Port Alberni you don't run in the rain, over the Fall and Winter you will never run!

Gone: 38 minutes Ran: 36 Walk: 2

Oh and did you see my sidebar? I hit the 15 pound mark!!! Woo hoo!

Back in the groove

I did my long run today. Although I did it slowly and I walked more than usual I am happy with it. I actually had to walk a couple of times while going downhill (go figure! - running downhill hurts my knee more). I didn't really time my run but I was gone for about 38 minutes and I ran about 33 of it so I'm ok with that!

About the picture in the post below. Danica, my youngest, so kindly reminded me that I don't have my other pills in it (my thyroid meds and iron pills)! Hahaha!!! Ahhh life at 40!

I ran...

I did a run today! I have to say I have had some nice comments from people, thank you. I have actually gone to my doctor and have been going to physiotherapy and neither of them want me to stop running. I have also searched on the internet and consensus there, too is to try and run through the pain as apparently as the legs get stronger the pain goes away. I hope so. Anyhow I did run today. I did is slowly and I did a short one (my original route). I ran the whole thing, so it does feel good.

As I was running though I was thinking about what I 'look' like. Brace on my knee, orthotics in my shoes and I thought so this is what '40' (something) looks like! Hahaha. Then I remembered the Butterfly Crafts Challenge and I thought about it. There is a song called (I think) "This is what love looks like". Well I decided I would change the title to This is What 40 looks like (truth be told, in a couple of months I will be 42), and so came the inspiration for this picture. Now I am not a good still life photographer, but you get the point. Orthotics in the shoes (gosh these are so dirty - I need some new runners!), knee brace, ice (physiotherapist says to ice my knee for 10 minutes after a run), and advil (to keep all the aches and pains at bay)! I see a scrapbook page coming on!!!

Tried

I tried. I did try to run but got part way down the block and the knee was really giving me pain. It is acutally quite depressing. Last time I got into a good routine of running, my foot started giving me trouble, and after orthotics etc it took 8 months for it to be better. Now here I am, sore knee. I am pretty sure if I lost weight I would have less pain, but with the pain I can't exercise. It is a vicious cycle, a rather depressing one.
