Running again

Oh the weather outside is delightful!  What a beautiful day! Partly cloudy and warm.  A good day for a run on Christmas Eve day - must make room for all the upcoming food!  We are going to the inlaws tonight and then everyone is coming here tomorrow for turkey - Jason is busy prepping today!  I only did my 5K run, will get back to doing the 6K soon, just trying to fit everything in.

Plugging Away

So here it is noon and I have crafted, baked and gone on a 5K run!  Love it.  Just trying to fit everything in and get everything done before the big day.  Now I better get going on some wrapping!

Tis the season

So it was a beautiful morning here but I had to run out to do some last minute errands and shopping.  Then do a bit of baking before taking Danica over to a friends house for a gingerbread house party.  So I didn't get out for my run until later.  Well, while I was running it was trying to snow!  URGH - oh well I just did a short run, I figure that than no run at all!

Keeping on track

Well Jaimee and I only made it to the gym once last week.  Life just was too busy.  I did a run today and I am hoping to run as much as I can over the next 2 weeks that I am off.  Hoping to near the 30 pound mark by the end of the year.

Had to run

Wow I can't believe the beautiful weather we have been having!  the last couple of weeks were cold but it has warmed up, no rain, no snow just sun and cool weather!  I say I had to run because tis the season and I have been enjoying more food than I normally do along with more goodies.  So even though I only had 4 hours of sleep last night - we had my staff party here - and I really just wanted to stay cuddled up today, I had to run.  The weather is gorgeous and I think that if I start letting myself  give in to the 'don't want to' I may slip on some of those unwanted pounds that I have worked so hard to get off.  I'm glad I went though, I feel good, can get back to scrappping and all is well.

Smart

Jaimee and I have started the 'smart' program at Curves, it really pushes you! Jaimee actually broke a sweat the other day!

I am so happy I have hit the 25 pound mark!!! It feels so good. Now my goal is to be down 15 more by next spring or summer. It seems so doable now that most of the weight is off.

A Beautiful, Cold Day!

This has been quite a week. I have been sick again, missing work because of headaches, nausea, and dizziness thus haven't been to the gym much. However, yesterday Jason, Danica and I went for about a 45 minute to 1 hour hike in the forest behind us. It was beautiful. Sunny but cold. Today the weather is the same. Jason headed out for another walk with the dog but I went for a run. First time running in the cold weather but it was great. Sunny, gotta like that!

Wow another run

It has been awhile since I did a run 2 days in a row! Felt good. Now I have to get ready as I have to go work at the school for awhile.

No Mojo???

Can you have no mojo for exercise? I have not had a lot of mojo for scrapping lately each card or layout has been a long process and not always rewarding. So today I ran and I went on my 5K rather than my 6K run as it just felt mojoless. KWIM? I just got bored and couldn't go on. But at least I went. I am slowly inching my way to the 25 pound mark. I was at a workshop yesterday and one of my old principals that I team taught with a few years ago asked me if I was shrinking? It is nice that people are noticing. I have averaged about 5 pounds per month since July 1st when I set out on this journey. My road seemed so daunting and so far away but each pound I have lost has been that spark to keep me on the right track. I am now aiming at about 16 more pounds. But now I am taking it 5 pounds at a time. Perhaps my initial goal is not that realistic. Yes I did weigh it at one time but that was before kids and such. Perhaps that weight is not really a healthy one for me now. I will see as I get closer. But for now I am still aiming for another 16 pound loss by next spring or summer.

Finally ran again

Oh the weather outside is frightful.... Literally our weather has been horrible here. Torrential rain. I mean I won't mind running in a light rain but when it is torrential with huge wind gusts no way! So the rain and wind stopped today so I finally went out for a run. Felt good to get some fresh air again. I missed a couple of days from work as I was sick, but the fresh air was good. Jaimee and I are still trying to get to Curves regularly too. I am down about 22 pounds, won't get to the 25 by the end of November but that is ok. I have not been able to exercise as much as I wanted to.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Wow, how lucky!

We have the day off today for Remembrance Day. I woke up to pouring rain but hoped to do a run. Well the rain broke and I managed to get a run in! Yay!

A Break in the Rain

Well, we had a break in the rain today (it is that time of year) so I went out for a run. It was a bit of a hard run, I had a cramp from the beginning and I forgot to put the orthotics in my runners. So I shortened my run, and ran 5K instead of 6. Glad I went. I am sure the rain is going to come again!

Monday, November 2, 2009

Lots of running!

I started out on a run yesterday, but about 18 minutes into it, my mom was driving by on her way to my house so my run was cut short. Oh well, at least I got out.

Today Jaimee and I were supposed to go to Curves but she phoned me to say she did a 'big workout' in PE and was tired. Was ok with me since we had a X Country running practice afterschool today so I did about a 3K run anyways.

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Another beautiful day here, wow, so happy to have such nice weather this time of the year! I did a run today. I am working on increasing my speed a bit. Slowly getting there. I am hoping to do a 10K in the spring in about an hour or less.

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Keep em coming!

Well Jaimee and I made it to Curves again yesterday. It has been great lately, I have had a couple other people ask me if I had lost weight. Nice that all this hard work is paying off! another pound gone so I'm at 21!

Monday, October 26, 2009

Good day

You know I never really know what to write here. It is my personal log of my activity but what do I say, I went to Curves again (with Jaimee of course). What else can I say?

Saturday, October 24, 2009

What a beautiful day!

I wasn't going to run today but it was such a gorgeous sunny fall day how could I not! I did my run in 36 minutes, slightly faster than I used to.

Did you notice in my sidebar that I officially hit the 20 pound mark! I am so happy and I feel so good! Halfway there. I hope to lose another 5 pounds by end of November and then hold it at that through the winter months (you know, terrible weather will make it hard to get out and run and Christmas). We'll see how it goes.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Another Curves

Jaimee and I went to Curves today. I was a little tired and just couldn't push myself so I had a 'easy' workout. That's ok. I am still happy I went.

Monday, October 19, 2009

Not much to say

Not much to say except that Jaimee and I went to Curves today. Also today someone who didn't know I had lost weight asked me if I had. Felt good, at least it is starting to be noticable to others! With my body type I can gain a lot without people noticing too much, but of course it means I have to lose a lot before they notice too!

Sunday, October 18, 2009

A Good run!

I didn't post on Thursday but I did run. I am one of the Cross Country Coaches at our school and although I can't make the Tuesday practices I go on Thursdays. We go on about a 2.5km run with the kids, short for me but that is ok, it still gets me out.

I ran today for about 35 minutes, I hadn't done a long run since last Sunday's 8K run (still happy about that one!). It was a beautiful sunny day so I had a great run today. I actually didn't want to go, I am fighting the 'unmotivation' that hits me sometimes. Now with the weather starting to change to more dreary days I am finding it easier to not go. However, I stepped on the scale again today finally and I am down another pound (19 total!!!) so that was my motivation to keep going!

So happy to be down 19 pounds, had a great run and now off to do some fun scrapping!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Yay Curves

I was so tired after work and I had to go for my blood tests. If I was doing Curves by myself I would not have gone. But since I go with Jaimee I went and it felt good! I'm glad I went.

Running Club tomorrow.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

A Great Run!!!

Well I did the 8K this morning! The weather was cool but beautiful. I am so happy with my results. My goal was to run the whole thing and not walk so I did not push myself. As it turned out I was not tired at the end of it so I could have pushed harder. Not only that, but I had hoped to finish in about an hour well unofficially it was about 50 minutes! Now I am kicking myself for not pushing a bit. I was just worried I would push and then have to walk. Oh well I am very happy and now I have something to work towards for next year!

Friday, October 9, 2009

Not a good poster!

I have not been keeping up with my posting here! Yesterday I did a run as I am one of the Cross Country Coaches for our school. Of course it was a short run for me, but that is ok I am getting ready for my 8K on Sunday. Looking forward to that.

Jaimee and I didn't go to Curves today. I told her I don't want to take any chances with my knee (it has been hurting a bit). Once the run is over, a little pain won't slow me down, her and I will then be going 3 times/ week - well that is the plan anyways!

I won't run tomorrow. Jason and I are heading to Victoria (can't wait to go to Lululemon). We are spending the night at my brother's then going in the run on Sunday. Hope all goes well. I know I will finish, just hoping to run the whole way and finish in around 1 hour.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Went again

Jaimee and I went to Curves again. I forgot my knee brace so I took it easy on the leg machines but worked hard on the arm ones!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Good for Jaimee

I was a little late getting home yesterday so Jaimee phoned me to see if I was coming! She is really enjoying Curves and she is good for me, she is keeping me going! We had a good workout yesterday.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Yep I did a run!

Well it is World Card Making Day and I managed to break away from the scraproom and do a run. It is a beautiful day here and I have my 8K run next weekend so I figured I better go! I'm glad I did, now I feel rejuvinated and want to tackle more challenges on WCMD!

Curves visit

I forgot to post last night that Jaimee and I managed to get to Curves yesterday. We are enjoying it and although some days I am dog tired and could do without it, Jaimee is saying, "Aw mom" so we go! It's a good thing I have her!

Monday, September 28, 2009

No gym today

Well Jaimee had sore arms from her grade 9 immunizations and I had a late meeting so we didn't make it to the gym. I did manage to fit in a run. I only did about 5K rather than my 6K but it felt good as my knee is not bothering me as much lately.

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Steps, steps, steps

I went for a run today and it felt good. It was a beautiful day, the knee didn't hurt, I did my long run... all was well! Funny thing I wear my pedometer all the time and today I did my run and have also run around doing a bunch of errands and I am only at 8200 steps. On a normal work day I am averaging between 7500 and 8500 steps and that is without doing any running or anything!

Friday, September 25, 2009

Another Curves workout

It was a pro-day today so I was in a workshop all day. Jaimee phoned me part way through it and wondered if we were going to Curves. How sweet. We went and it was fun!

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Wow, so exhausted!

There is so much going on right now. Of course work is busy, but I have had a few after school meetings and mine and Danica's Open Houses two nights this week. Sure making it hard to get out and run. Hopefully all of the main busyness is over for the most part and I can return to 'normal'.

Monday, September 21, 2009

First Curves visit

Well Jaimee and I did our first Curves workout today. I took it easy as the ole knee was telling me to. Jaimee seemed to like it. It will be a good thing for her and I to do together. Looking forward to more.

Saturday, September 19, 2009

An Audience

I normally do my run first thing in the morning (well after I've had a tea and blogged for about 1 hour!). Today I was 'lazy' and didn't feel like going right away. I scrapbooked for a bit and then I decided I better go or I just may not. Well, I forgot about the Toy Run today so for part of my run I had an audience! I ran right up the street where onlookers were waiting for the Toy Run parade. Yah, I felt a little dumb, but at least it was only for a short part of my run!

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Trying to get a routine!

Still trying to get into a routine with back to work full time and fitting in my exercising. Lately I have had so many appointments and meetings that I have not been able to run. Today I did a short run after work (before I left for home). I am hoping to do that 2 times per week and then my long runs on the weekends.

Sunday, September 13, 2009

I ran

Well I did another run today. I didn't go quite as far as I usually do, I was a bit achey. I don't know about being over 40, seems I always have something to complain about. Now when it is that TOM (if you know what I mean), I am very achey everywhere. Today my lower back was kind of aching so I shortened my run by about 10 minutes. Oh well, 30 minutes is still good!

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Run, run as fast as you can

Well not really, but I ran to my mom's this morning and did it in 5 minutes less than I took before. It felt good too.

Along with my weight loss this summer (total was 18 pounds!) I also did my measurements when I started on this track. In 2 months I have lost a total of 11 inches! This is all totalled - ie. 2 from hips, 2 from waist etc. Looks like I am still on the right track.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Did manage to run

I did manage to squeeze in a run yesterday. The power went out here, and included 3 other cities! We were without power for about 4 hours. I couldn't do the work I wanted at school or at home so since the sun was out I went for a run! Tonight will be lots of walking as it is our Fall Fair night.

Monday, September 7, 2009

Not much new

Not much new today. I did my run, my knee is great (it still lets me know it is there sometimes), I finished in about the same time (actually 1 minuted faster) and I feel good. I won't be running for a couple of days. I start work tomorrow (teaching grade 1s again) and it is going to be a long day (only 2 hours of school but we have a staff meeting). The next day after work I will be heading to sign up Jaimee (my oldest) and I up for Curves. I am kind of excited. I used to go to Curves and I am looking forward to going with Jaimee, I hope she likes it and sticks with it. She is 14 and is not joining many sports anymore (she used to do gymnastics, bowling, ball and track) - only track (May and June). I am trying to keep her moving and realize fitness is part of life. Perhaps once in awhile we will sneak off to Starbucks after!

Hoping to get into a nice routine of running after work a couple days a week and then on weekends and Curves 2X a week with Jaimee.

Rain, rain go away

Today I ran in the rain. When I started out it was a drizzle but before long I was in rain! Now I did think about just doing a short run but you know, my knee was feeling good, the run was feeling good so I kept going. I ran my route and I did it well! And, if in Port Alberni you don't run in the rain, over the Fall and Winter you will never run!

Gone: 38 minutes Ran: 36 Walk: 2

Oh and did you see my sidebar? I hit the 15 pound mark!!! Woo hoo!

Back in the groove

I did my long run today. Although I did it slowly and I walked more than usual I am happy with it. I actually had to walk a couple of times while going downhill (go figure! - running downhill hurts my knee more). I didn't really time my run but I was gone for about 38 minutes and I ran about 33 of it so I'm ok with that!

About the picture in the post below. Danica, my youngest, so kindly reminded me that I don't have my other pills in it (my thyroid meds and iron pills)! Hahaha!!! Ahhh life at 40!

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

I ran...

I did a run today! I have to say I have had some nice comments from people, thank you. I have actually gone to my doctor and have been going to physiotherapy and neither of them want me to stop running. I have also searched on the internet and consensus there, too is to try and run through the pain as apparently as the legs get stronger the pain goes away. I hope so. Anyhow I did run today. I did is slowly and I did a short one (my original route). I ran the whole thing, so it does feel good.

As I was running though I was thinking about what I 'look' like. Brace on my knee, orthotics in my shoes and I thought so this is what '40' (something) looks like! Hahaha. Then I remembered the Butterfly Crafts Challenge and I thought about it. There is a song called (I think) "This is what love looks like". Well I decided I would change the title to This is What 40 looks like (truth be told, in a couple of months I will be 42), and so came the inspiration for this picture. Now I am not a good still life photographer, but you get the point. Orthotics in the shoes (gosh these are so dirty - I need some new runners!), knee brace, ice (physiotherapist says to ice my knee for 10 minutes after a run), and advil (to keep all the aches and pains at bay)! I see a scrapbook page coming on!!!

Tried

I tried. I did try to run but got part way down the block and the knee was really giving me pain. It is acutally quite depressing. Last time I got into a good routine of running, my foot started giving me trouble, and after orthotics etc it took 8 months for it to be better. Now here I am, sore knee. I am pretty sure if I lost weight I would have less pain, but with the pain I can't exercise. It is a vicious cycle, a rather depressing one.

Monday, August 31, 2009

Off the track!

I have not run for the past few days as my knee has been really bothering me. I had hoped to go today but it is still sore and I do have some appointments this morning, so rather than try to squeeze one in and rush, and perhaps hurt it more, I'll take today off too. Good thing in my Journal I had the theme of "Slow and Steady" because at this rate it will take forever to get the weight off.

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Not a good day

I did not have a good run today. My knee really was hurting me. I had to walk for the last few blocks. I guess tomorrow I will take the day off, didn't want to but I think I have to.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Longer run

No running yesterday as it was a school shopping day (although I could have gone by the time Danica woke up!). Today I stretched out my run again. I am now up to 5.7km. I am slowly working towards the 8K run that I will be doing in October (Jason, my hubby will be doing the half marathon at the same time).

Gone: 37 minutes Ran: 36 Walk: 1

Ran with my Ipod

Well hubby got me an ipod for our anniversary, wowie! I only have about 23 songs downloaded and they are pretty mellow, not really running music (good for my speed though, lol!), but it was nice to have music while I run. My run was pretty much the same, so happy to be doing the hill. Jason was surprised that I do that hill, he says he wouldn't (and he is an awesome runner - he does 10K in 42 minutes, half marathons in 1 hour 42). Haha!

Saturday, August 22, 2009

Not Much to Say

Not much to report today. The run was pretty much the same, except that I RAN the WHOLE way up the hill, wooowie!! Big day for me! Not bad since I was going to skip the run today as I have been doing so good. The only reason I didn't skip is that it is hubby and my 17th anniversary today and I reserved at our favorite restaurant. So I know it is going to be a lot of calories tonight!

Friday, August 21, 2009

Against the Wind...

Today I was running against the wind for much of my run - whew! Although it was a bit tougher it is a nice break from the heat. I almost ran the whole way up the hill!!! Still need my bit of a walking break before my last little bit home though, it is quite the hill.

Gone: 31 mins Ran: 30 Walk: 1

A beautiful day!

We are in for another beautiful day here, more sun - although quite honestly I prefer slightly cooler temps - especially since today I will be doing some major cleaning and organizing of the house.

Yesterday I took the day off, the knee seems to be ok if I take a day off now and then (along with popping some Advil daily - lol). Although I did do a lot of walking as I had an out of town shopping day. Today my run was good.

Gone: 31.5 minutes Ran: 30 Walked: 1.5mins

Oh and I am on my way to 15 down 12 now!

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Not much new

Not much new to report today. I did my run and it was pretty much like yesterday. Funny thing though, I always seem to hit the 20 minute mark and I want to walk, I slow my pace and keep on going.

Monday, August 17, 2009

I did it!

My goal when I first started running on July 2nd was to be able to run for 30 minutes a day, although I did not ever think I would get there, or at least not so soon. Well I ran for 30 minutes today! This time I ran for 29 before having to stop for a break - I ran part way up THE HILL even, which is why I had to stop to walk! I walked for a bit then off I ran again. Yippee!

On another note, I have been whining lately about the weight loss. Well did you notice my side bar? I am now at 10 (well probably 11) pounds and when I think of it I have only been on my 'journey' since July 1st. 6 weeks. 6 weeks, including 2 camping trips. 6 weeks. If you think of 2 pounds per week I am pretty much on schedule. I wanted to lose 15 pounds this summer and I am headed in the right direction.

700 Calorie Bike Ride

Well I did it. Danica and I went out camping yesterday, she is feeling a smidge better. Today I almost talked myself out of the bike ride home (15K) as it was hot... etc. However, this morning Jason cooked up our fabulous camping breakfast, eggs, fried potatoes and bacon. I have been good this summer and not really partaking in it. This morning I did! I had some fried potatoes (you know, fried in the bacon fat - yummy!) and 3 pieces of bacon. I figured that I better ride home after that! It was a good ride. It took me an hour but it feels good. I checked how many calories I burned and it is about 700 calories ! Gotta love that!

I tried

Right now I am struggling to keep going with this fitness thing. The last time I tried running and getting fit, I injured my foot, then pretty much couldn't do anything for 9 months. Now my knee is bothering me. Dr. couldn't find anything, next step is physio. I don't know. I am not a runner, have never found it to be something I enjoyed but do it to lose weight. So doing it when it hurts makes it even harder. On top of that the scale has not moved for a couple of weeks, pretty disheartening.

Well, I did try to go for a run this morning. The rest of my family is out camping. I had to come in early yesterday morning to bring Dancia in to Emergency, she is very sick. Thus I spent the better part of yesterday at the dr. or with a sick little girl. In the rush of bringing her in yesterday I remembered my running gear, but forgot my knee wrap. I tried to run today, but my knee was really bothering me so I did a short loop around the block and home. On top of that I did not like the fact that Danica (although she is 11 1/2 and is dead asleep) was at home by herself while she is so sick.

Let's hope I can keep going as it does feel good to be fit, I just wish the scale was my friend!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

We're off

Well we are off camping today (I am hoping to ride the bike there). I will hopefully run a couple times while we are there. Back to routine next week!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Doing great

You know, I stepped on the scale again and it is not going down as fast as I would like it too (at least it is going down). I feel that I am working so hard, with all the running and really watching what I am eating, I just wish it would drop more quickly. Nonetheless, I guess I should be happy that it is going down little by little and I am feeling good... well except for the knee... I'm off to the Dr. today.

A little rain!

So today it was drizzling. A few years ago when I tried the running thing a little rain would be a good excuse for me not to run. Well there was no way it was going to dampen my success so far! I went out anyways, and it was nice not to be running in the heat. Besides it was only a little drizzle.

Gone: 33 minutes walk: 2 1/2 mins Run: 30 1/2

Another long run

Another run to my mom's, it went well today. I ran almost the whole way (apart from waiting at a couple of stop lights). Unfortunately she lives up a hill too, so some walking there!

Gone: 41 minutes Walk: 4 Run: 37

The good thing is that I am not so winded after a run, so whether I lose weight or not (and I better!), I am definately getting in shape. The hard part is being so stiff for the rest of the day, ahhh 41 how nice!

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Slow and Steady

Today was very overcast, yay! I ran at a bit of a slower pace today as I wanted to run farther before having to walk. Well, I did better than I expected! I ran until the killer hill (28 minutes of running)! So exciting for me, who has never been a runner! I walked the hill which must have been slower than before as it took me 4 minutes! Oh well, I don't care. I am feeling good!

Gone: 33 minutes ran: 29 walk: 4

My 'off' day

Today was supposed to be a day with no running. My knee is sort of acting up but I have been wearing a wrap when I run. Well I kinda call it a day off. I didn't run this morning but instead while Jaimee was getting her haircut I went for a short 13 minute run (about 2K) around the dike - that's kinda a day off isn't it?

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Bike ride

Tonight I went for a bike ride. Danica and I rode to mom's, easy ride there. Jason came to pick up Danica and I rode home. It was good, of course those hills are just as much of a killer as when I run! I did walk up Neill St. But all in all it was a good 30 minute ride.

Overcast run

Well this morning it was slightly overcast for my run, nice for a change! However, the sun is out now, I was kind of hoping for a bit of cool weather.

I managed to stretch out my route once again and it is 4.7km. It is close enough to 5 for me and it is a good run.

Gone: 32 minutes Run: 27 Walk: 5 - even ran for 1 minute up the killer hill!

Can't believe I'm doing this

Well Jason did the Half Marathon last year and is hoping to go again. So I have signed up for the 8K part of it. I have never done a long distance run before and don't know what I am getting into, but I am looking forward to it. It is on October 11th. Now to find someone to come along just to take my picture!

Upped the Ante!

I stretched out my run again. This one is 4.4Km rather than 3. It is easier in a way as I don't have the long gradual hill on the way home. However, at the end of this route is one shorter killer hill that I didn't even attempt to run up - it took me 3 mins to walk up it!

Gone: 31 minutes ran: 24 walk 7

Felt good.

Bit of a downer

Well, the new scale is in my opinion is not so good! I weigh more on it than my old one. However, the old one is not so reliable, and for the last 3 days I have weighed myself on both and the new one has been consistent. Which of course means my starting point was much higher than expected. This is not a good thing. However it does mean that when I get there it will be much more of an accomplishment! So I will stick with the first one and I don't know exactly what my starting point was but I am going to say that I have lost 8 pounds in this first month, as I have lost weight. I am going to keep going on the right track now.

I went for a long run today. I ran to my mom's house which is about 6K away. I walked for about 6 minutes of it and ran for 35! Felt good. I am going to up my regular run a bit now, it may be about 3.5K for a couple weeks and hoping to push it to about 4 or 5K by the end of summer. So far today 6950 steps!

Oh for anyone interested, I completed my Road Trip journal it is here.

Wow another post!

Well, I was determined to make 10 000 steps today! Jaimee (my oldest daughter) and I went for a half hour walk, so that along with my run and all my steps around home and I am at 11 170! Yay, I'll probably make 12 000 today. However, it does show how difficult it is to get to 10 000, what will I do when I am working again? Work and walk and run. When will I scrap?! LOL

Road Trip Journal Sneak Peek

As I said I am making myself a journal or mini album to help keep me motivated to lose these extra pounds and keep healthy. I had decided I wanted to do somthing as I just got hooked on mini albums and then wouldn't you know it October Afternoon came out with this fantastic paper called Road Trip and my idea has just gone from there. I am about halfway done, I'll post more when it is complete.

What???

So this morning I stepped on my scale and it says I have gained 2 pounds! How depressing! How can that be? I have been running consistently and have really been watching what I have been eating and it has been sparse. Now normally when I have tried to lose weight before I would get upset and all routine would go out the window. Well I am determined not to let it happen again. I think having this blog helps, as does my mini album (which is almost complete - I'll post a sneak peek later) - they keep me motivated. That being said, I do think it could be the scale, it is about 20 years old at least so perhaps it is time to get a new one, I'll think I'll do that today!

I did my run, and it was much nicer, we have a bit of cloud and cooler temps today (so far anyways). I still ran about the same but I have noticed I am not as winded when I get home, and that's a good thing.

There!

Perhaps it is going to be a Thursday thing, but I just didn't feel like going again today. I was smart and went earlier so it was not quite as warm. Now I have to do my blurfing! The run today was pretty much like yesterday. I wonder if I will ever get to the point that I like running?!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Oh boy!

It is so hot here! I did not run yesterday as I had an all day webcast that I signed up for that started at 8am. Now if it wasn't so hot I perhaps would have done a short run after supper, but not in this heat (40 degrees, or 103F!). You can't imagine how happy I was to sit at my computer in the hot family room all day rather than be in my craft room!

Anyhow, enough complaining. I did run today and it was already warm. I'm for sure going to try to go a smidge earlier until the weather cools a bit. I guess my blurfing will have to be after my run instead.

Gone: 21.5 minutes Run: 18 Walk: 3.5 mins!

Breakfast of Champions

Well maybe not a breakfast of champions, but it is the breakfast I have most often. It packs quite a punch even though it doesn't look all that appetizing! It has about 350 calories but full of nutrition. About 70 of the calories come from the 2 TBSP of ground flax that I add. Flax is very beneficial for us, everyone should try to incorporate it daily. Check out this post regarding flax.

Recipe:

1/3 cup regular oatmeal 2/3 cup hot water 1/3 cup cottage cheese (I use 1%) 1/2 cup blueberries 2 TBSP ground flax 2 TBSP slivered almonds 1 TBSP Splenda sweetener I also add some Apple Pie Spice. I then microwave for about 75 seconds then it is ready.

Back into a routine

We got back from camping yesterday afternoon, and the kids had fun in our little pool but hubby and I just baked! It was 38 degrees in town and supposed to be the same today. I wanted to start painting our front door this week, but I may just have to hide out in my craftroom for a bit!

I did my run again, I thought I took it a bit slower as my knees are bothering me a bit but I finished in 21 minutes with only 4 minutes of walking!

I also got myself this pedometer:

I just got it while we were away so yesterday afternoon I had it on for awhile. It is fun to watch how many steps you make in a day just doing the mundane day to day stuff. What is neat about this one, is that it hooks up to a computer so I can graph my daily activity and see how I am doing towards my goal! It tells me how many calories are burned too, now that's fun! So far today I have done 3641 steps, I am hoping to do 10,000 a day wonder if I will get there?

Still camping

We are out camping but luckily for me it is not too far away. I went for a run yesterday (this is is about 4 Km and is very hilly - so I did have to walk part of it) and a short one this morning. My knee is bothering me so I think I will take tomorrow and Sunday off. I came in from camping to have a proper shower! This bathing in the river is fine but the legs need shaving!

Didn't want to go...

I really did not feel like running today, and because we are heading out camping for a few days, I almost talked myself out of it because I had to get ready to go. Well I went for my run, and almost talked myself into doing the easier route, ie forgo most of 'THE HILL'. However, I didn't I did the whole route and I am glad I did!

Gone 22 minutes: walked 4 .5 minutes!

Gone: 23 minutes - run 17 walk 6

9 Pounds!!

No run yesterday but I did paint Danica's room, 2 coats in one day!

I went out for my run today at about 9 am rather than 8 and it was already getting warm. I was gone for 23 minutes and 7 of it was walking. Not quite as good as Friday, but close.

The good news is that at a 2 week check point I am down 9 pounds! So happy!

A Good Run

Did another run today. This time I finished in 22 minutes: Running 16 and walking 6. Feels good!

That hill is killing me!

I found out the other day that I am anemic again. Would explain why I feel so tired all the time! I haven't let it get the best of me, I am pursuing on the running. I missed yesterday as me, the girls and my mom went to Nanaimo shopping for the day - a girl has to shop right?!

I managed to finish the run in 25 minutes rather than 27. I am pushing myself to running up more of the hill. I have to admit though it is tough, the hill is winning thus far. One day I will.

Stepped it up!

I went for a run again after a few days off. I stretched out my route just a smidge, it takes about 7 minutes longer. I know I am running a further distance than I am walking, just not sure of minute wise, I think I run more than I walk. The trouble is that on the route I take most of it is fairly level, but on the way home it is a gradual incline with a steep hill at the end! I can't run the whole way up yet, hoping to one day.

Note to Self

Well, today I really didn't feel like going for my run. First time it has happened. What did I do? I went on it earlier! I figured if I waited until my regular run time (around 9 am) I may talk myself out of going. So I left at 8:30 and it was a good one, I'm glad I went!

Now, note to self: don't wear the Lulu Hip Hop pant for running! I had worn them during the day for a couple of days and they were headed to the laundry. Well, I figured I may as well wear them on my run rather than get some clean running clothes all sweaty. Not a good idea, they are a little loose in the waist - which is why I like them - comfort! They kept inching their way down, not fun! They would not have fallen off, I just didn't like where they would fall to. Oh well, the run is done and the running clothes are still clean!

Doing Good!

Just got back from another run, they are getting somewhat easier. I am running for about 15 mins and walking for about 5. Good enough for a start. I am hoping to work up to running for 20 minutes then 30. I would like to be able to run for 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week.

One Week

Well it has been a week since I set forth on my goal. It has been good, there have been times when I had the urge to snack, not because I was hungry but just because it seemed the thing to do, but I resisted. I have gone on my run all weekdays (heading off again soon here - was waiting for Danica to wake up!). So what is the result? Well it is much better than I had expected!

I have lost 5 pounds!

Wow! I know this won't happen every week, sure would be nice if it did. It makes my 15 pounds this summer quite reachable!

Trying to rain

The weather has really cooled off here. I didn't get my run done right away this morning as I had to go for blood tests. That had me worried as usually if I don't do it right off, I don't do it. Well I just got back from my run, luckily with the cool weather I was able to do this. I know if it was hot I would have talked myself out of doing it!

A new week

Well here we are another Monday. I have to say I was very good on the weekend, I ate well but I didn't really do much in the way of exercise besides gardening. Today, however, I did my run and was able to run longer than last week. Yay!

Can I do it?

With school being out and not a lot of big plans for the summer (just a bit of camping, painting, cleaning, organizing and of course scrapping), I want to really focus on getting fit and being more healthy. I am at the point in my life where the kids can look after themselves more and thus I can too. With the onset of my hypothyriod a couple of years back I gained a lot of weight, quite depressing until I found out why. Well I am hoping to rid myself of the baggage. Can I do it? I am going to go out on a limb and say YES I CAN. I am hoping to lose 25 - 30 pounds - by when, I'm not sure, don't want to be unrealistic but I do hope to lose 15 this summer. I'm thinking that by writing it down here it will keep me motivated to keep it up. Eat right (shouldn't be too hard, I do have a degree in Nutrition and we already eat quite well - I am just going to focus on cutting down on some things) and exercise more. Throughout the year me and a friend try to walk regularly. However, with family business some weeks we don't walk, other weeks we go 4 times a week for 45 minutes. I am hoping to get into my own routine this summer and thus try to keep it up through the year.

Where am I now? July 2nd I started my running. I don't go far or fast, or even run the whole way but it is a start. I ran yesterday too. Well today I took a break, the sore legs told me too! I am planning on a quick 20 minute run M-F and anything else that comes up. Fingers are crossed that I can carry out my plan. No fingers are not crossed, I AM going to do it. Who is with me?
